Have a Voice, Take a Stand, Make a Difference

The greatest privilege we have as Americans is our 2nd amendment right to Freedom of Speech. With this right, we are able to take great strides in making a difference! As a community, we are able to take a stand not only for ourselves, but also for those who also live within our community. We are able to educate, fight against, fight for, and influence key decision makers in order to influence a greater change.

When looking at the high rate of food insecurity that is prevalent in San Diego County, we are able to make a change and voice our opinions about our concerns. By contacting government officials and voicing what we feel can be done to make things better, we can accomplish said goals.

There are various advocacy groups in California, specifically in San Diego, that the San Diego Food Bank are associated with, such as the San Diego Hunger Coalition, to actively build successful anti-hunger networks that eliminate food insecurity in San Diego County. The San Diego Hunger Coalition advocates for maximum participation in and the effectiveness of available food security resources, and the organization fosters collaboration with local anti-hunger organizations to shape public opinion and policy at the local, state, and federal levels.
